Internet-enabled colour-laser

Johannesburg, 06 Jul 1999

Xerox Channels Group (XCG) is giving a boost to small and networked-office customers by announcing an Internet-enabled colour laser.

The new DocuPrint NC60 Colour Laser Printer offers convenience features and the ability to interact with users via the Internet.

"With the remote printing feature, users can dispatch print-ready documents directly to it through ordinary e-mail. E-mail alerts can automatically notify specified users when the printer needs toner or paper," says Angie Samuel, marketing manager at XCG SA. The DocuPrint NC60 also offers up to 4 page-per-minute (ppm) colour and 16 ppm monochrome printing.

It offers workgroups a combination of print quality and work-saving convenience features in a space-saving design. The device uses a combination of 1200 Image Quality and Intelligent Color 4.0.

With e-mail alerts, the printer can let users know when its out of toner or paper. Remote Printing lets users in far-away locations e-mail prints directly to the NC60.

IntelliRes is a feature that allows the user to fix low-res Web images as they print. As standard, the printer comes with WorkSet technology giving users the ability to RIP once, print many. Send once, RIP once, and print many are features allowing multiple document sets to print faster. Built-in Ethernet, also a feature of WorkSet technology, gives users in shared workgroups access to the benefits of color. Smart Jam diagnostics is another benefit, as is secure print.

The N-series products additionally offer the EuroFont resident in the printer, removing the need for users to download additional fonts.

The NC60 also has onboard Ethernet connectivity capability and built-in support for Adobe PostScript 3.
