Internet sees pupils improve maths

Pupils at a north London primary school have been improving their maths thanks to the , which has put them in touch with teachers thousands of miles away in India, BBC reports.

"It's a 3D shape.” “Wait, I'm not sure if that's a square." "Oh, I know, it's a rectangular prism, a pyramid." "Is it a cuboid?"

Varsity, IAEA in e-learning pact

Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research and the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) recently signed an agreement or 'practical arrangements', to establish an e-learning portal, notes Zawya.

This online resource and learning Web site provides materials that supplement classroom studies in the UAE and the region.

As a direct result of the International Conference on Human Resource Development for Introducing and Expanding Nuclear Power Programmes, which was successfully held in Abu Dhabi in March, this practical agreement also signals continued cooperation between the government of the UAE and the IAEA.

School offers vocational online courses

New vocational online courses are on offer to students at Nicholas Chamberlain Technology College in Bedworth, says Coventry Telegraph.

They will be able to achieve nationally-recognised qualifications by studying online with Vision2learn for schools, which is an e-learning set up by the Creating Careers organisation.

The students can complete the courses at their own pace, from school or home, with teachers able to support and track student progress at the click of a button, says the company.
