InterSystems driving African telcos into 21st century

The telecommunications market in Africa has been through tremendous changes over the past few years and is set for even more growth as it identifies and adapts to this continent`s unique requirements. In this regard, InterSystems South Africa has become a critical partner in many new telco ventures on the continent due to the superior performance, ease of use and reliability of solutions built on its products.

CACH'E, InterSystems` post-relational database, is a key component of several of the world`s leading telecommunications solutions, including many of the pace-setters in Africa. The technology is already in use at renowned telco solutions providers such as Airwide Solutions, Atos Origin, Compta+ and Eircom Ltd. These organisations, and many more, are using InterSystems` technology to successfully drive profitable, mission-critical services in the global telco sector.

"In an environment where there is a demand for rapid return on investment and improved time to deployment, InterSystems delivers unrivalled business benefits," says Henry Adams, country manager for InterSystems South Africa.

"The ability to manage increasing data volumes and transaction throughput requires superior performance beyond the limits provided by simple relational database technology.

"Designed for intensive telco-grade applications, CACH'E provides extraordinary transaction processing speed, massive scalability, high availability and realtime queries against transactional data. In addition, with its minimal maintenance requirements, CACH'E is unbeatable in the telecommunications field."

InterSystems` technology has already provided the technological foundation that enables its clients to build applications in the following functional areas:

* Billing and mediation
* Directory services
* Operational support systems
* Contact centres
* SMS
* Fraud detection
* Business intelligence

To address the needs of the African telecommunications sector, the third annual WSO Digital Africa Summit will be held in Cape Town, from 8 to 10 February. This neutral event provides a platform for delegates to come together, do business and discuss ICT issues that are essential to the development of their countries and businesses. The summit`s attendees will range from government ministers and their most senior staff to regulators, fixed and mobile network operators, and solution providers. A key focus of the conference will be the liberalisation of African telecommunications.

InterSystems will be represented at the conference by South African country manager, Henry Adams, as well as Chris Norton, Head of Telecommunications, InterSystems, based in the UK. Together they will demonstrate the competitive advantages CACH'E brings to the African telco market.

Adams notes: "When the cost/performance/reliability ratio of technology is critical, more companies are relying on CACH'E to predictably deliver the goods every time."
