In line with an agreement signed between InterSystems and US software company iWay Software, InterSystems is introducing the integration middleware expertise of iWay to its customers by making the iWay range of adapters available for its Ensemble integration platform.
Ensemble comes with a full adapter development kit that enables users to develop their own adapters, according to their specific needs. iWay adapters will be made available to clients who wish to use off-the-shelf adapters rather than develop their own.
"Ensemble is designed to deliver rapid integration for even the most complex projects that call for integrating a wide range of applications and disparate databases," says InterSystems South Africa country manager Henry Adams. "The partnership with iWay, whose adapter technology is focused on rapid integration, results in a synergy that will deliver concrete benefits for Ensemble projects."
The Ensemble platform incorporates the functionality of an integration server, application server, high-performance object database, and a unified development and management environment in a single, architecturally consistent product.
An example of a successful integration initiative using Ensemble and iWay adapters is the OneFamily system implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The project integrates 59 applications and multiple databases in a composite Web application that provides a single, unified view of all relevant information about any individual client.
"With Ensemble and an iWay IMS adapter, we were able to integrate information from five systems and go live in 90 days," says Ben Harris, deputy secretary of operations and IT for the department. "After the success of phase one, we are moving forward with a plan that calls for an aggressive application roll-out throughout 2004."
Another example is Fisepe, a company responsible for planning, co-ordinating and executing IT programmes for the government sector in the state of Pernambuco in Brazil. Fisepe used Ensemble and the iWay Telnet Emulator adapter to create an electronic bidding system by integrating its purchase order systems and materials administration systems.
"The way InterSystems effectively incorporates iWay adapters in its Ensemble platform illustrates its in-depth understanding of enterprise integration requirements," says John Senor, president of iWay Software.
