In a joint statement released today, Intervate and Microsoft announced they will be cooperating to develop an enterprise-ready intranet solution that will be available in the early third quarter of this year.
Intervate is one of two Microsoft Certified Gold Partners for collaborative solutions in SA, and has already achieved strong market acceptance of its existing intranet, extranet and portal products. The collaborative effort is called Intervate ESI (Enterprise Solution for Intranets) and incorporates various Microsoft technologies including Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.
The joint solution will take advantage of the strong synergies between the respective technologies as well as Microsoft`s refocus on delivering integrated solutions rather than products to customers. "Intervate has proven industry experience and a very strong technology set. This makes them an ideal company for partnering with to deliver intranet solutions to enterprise customers," comments David Ives, solution specialist at Microsoft South Africa.
The Intervate ESI will offer an integrated intranet solution with enterprise portal, document management, content management and search capability, as well as a rapid intranet application development toolsets and a range of optional intranet applications.
"The solution integrates key functionality available in several of the Microsoft collaborative products with the enterprise scalability and robustness of our IntraCS platform," commented Lionel Moyal, Technical Director at Intervate. "The result is a solution that delivers the best functionality from both stables, and provides a centralised hub for enterprise-wide information management, collaboration and application integration.

The solution is currently in the development cycle and has already generated significant interest locally as well as internationally. The first implementation is scheduled for late June 2002 at a leading multinational technology services group. Microsoft Corporation in Redmond is expected to endorse the solution as a Partner Solution Offering (PSO) for international distribution.
