Introduction to Statistica

This is a one-day course, designed to introduce the participant to some of the basic statistical tools in Statistica and is also an excellent refresher course.

It will be held at Rivonia Conference Park on Tuesday, 6 September, and again on Tuesday, 20 September, by Anni Russell, Managing Director, StatSoft SA.

Objectives

* To provide users with an understanding of the general conventions, data management and graphics capabilities of Statistica.
* To offer users hands-on instruction in data management, working with documents and reports, and creating and customising graphs.
* To expose participants to the graphical methods available for exploring data and supporting statistical analysis.
* Expert tips on how to optimise the use of Statistica will be shared.

Description

This course is designed to instruct the student on how to take advantage of the numerous statistical and graphical tools available in Statistica. Step-by-step examples will be given on how to enter and manipulate data (including importing from other file formats such as spreadsheets), perform statistical analyses and use the output documents and graphical results. The user will be advised on how to optimise the use of Statistica. The final part of the course will be devoted to questions of users.

* User-interface and menus
* Customisation options
* Creating reports, documents (OLE)

Data management:

* Creating, modifying and saving data
* Importing data from other applications
* Importing data from database systems
* File structure manipulation
* Working with output

Graphics:

* Creating graphs
* Customising graphs
* Brushing techniques

Automation:

* Introduction to SVB macros
* Introduction to keyboard macros
* Introduction to auto-task buttons
