Investment protection, environmentally conscious and globally available

Johannesburg, 31 May 2005

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has announced the commencement of shipment in the EMEA region, of the new global ESPRIMO brand of professional PCs. The ESPRIMO professional PCs are manufactured in Augsburg, Germany and deliver cutting-edge technology combined with a modular and environmentally conscious design.

The first of the new models, the ESPRIMO P5905 microtower comes with the latest Intel 945G Express Chipset, extended manageability and flexibility features as well as improved environmentally conscious Green PC technology.

The new ESPRIMO global brand, which was announced together with Fujitsu Limited in April, symbolises a global brand image and product design. With the ESPRIMO, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has slimmed down the product range to offer customers more flexibility in system configurations. All three ESPRIMO lines are modularly upgradeable. Availability is as follows:

* ESPRIMO P5905 Microtower, the first model available, is available under the Intel Stable Image Platform program.

* ESPRIMO E Series, the small form factor (SFF), new standard desktop PC is set for launch in June. It is based on the new Intel 945G Express Chipset and is available with Intel Active Management Technology

* ESPRIMO C Series, the space-conscious ultra-small form factor PC (USFF), will be available in July.

The environment and ergonomics

All professional PCs from Fujitsu Siemens Computers will comply with RoHS six months before the stringent new set of EU guidelines restricting the use of hazardous substances goes into effect in mid-2006. Lead content in the mainboards has already been reduced from approximately 12 grams to only one gram, and the printed circuit board, power supply and riser card are halogen-free. Ergonomics have also been enhanced: all ESPRIMO PCs are equipped with an advanced cooling concept, making them even quieter to provide an optimal working environment.

"With our new ESPRIMO professional PCs, we demonstrate that added value can be offered even with standard desktops. Our PCs not only have unique environmental characteristics that offer customers investment protection regarding pending EU directives, but also serviceability and manageability features for exceptional user-friendliness," says Andrew Tsobanoglou, Product Manager-Professional Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"ESPRIMO enables Fujitsu and Fujitsu Siemens Computers to offer our customers an environmentally conscious global PC brand that stands for high quality and reliability tailored to individual requirements."
