Iomega storage arrays get Ivy Bridge

eWeek reports.

Iomega is also collaborating with McAfee to add a hardware-defined protection layer, which means it is the first SME network storage maker to run McAfee VirusScan Enterprise natively on network devices.

Mike Nikzad, Iomega COO, points out that StorTech was designed for SMEs in mind, but built with enterprise-grade architecture, The Sacramento Bee states.

Nikzad says: “Built with scalable server-class storage, the StorCenter px12-450r is also designed to support today's cloud and virtualisation storage demands, while having enough available headroom to meet the future storage and application growth opportunities."

The StorCenter array is equipped with 8GB of RAM, is designed for advanced business computing functions, such as deduplication, virtual desktop infrastructure and most storage-based applications, Tech Week Europe says.

It comprises a 12-bay, 2U network storage system plug-in ready for use with 10Gbit Ethernet networks and the upcoming 4TB disk drives.
