iPhone 4 in new patent suit

A new lawsuit takes aim at the accelerometer- and gyroscope-powered abilities of Apple's iPhone 4, alleging the interactive, 3D input methods are in violation of a US patent, writes AppleInsider.

The lawsuit, filed this week by Triton Tech of Texas, names both Apple and Nintendo as defendants.

Triton is the owner of US Patent number 5 181 181 entitled 'computer apparatus input device for three-dimensional information'.

China demands IDs for SIM sales

China has begun to require mobile phone users to furnish identification when buying SIM cards, says the New York Times.

Officials say the move is an attempt to rein in burgeoning cellphone spam, pornography and schemes.

The new will be implemented largely by the three government-controlled companies; China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom.

Taser wins copyright battle

A federal judge in Arizona has ruled in favour of Taser International in a patent lawsuit that pits the maker of electric-shock devices against a rival company, states Bloomberg Business Week.

US District Court judge Mary Murguia entered a final judgement against Stinger Systems, concluding the company violated Taser's patent on the dual-mode, 'shaped pulse' technology in its electronic control device products.

The court found Stinger's flyback quantum technology in its Stinger S-200 electronic control device infringes on Taser's patent.
