IS Partners announces first RS training for 2005

Johannesburg, 30 Mar 2005

Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, IS Partners, is building on last year`s successful launch of a developers curriculum that focuses specifically on business intelligence (BI) training. Microsoft Reporting Services forms an integral part of the training calendar, with a two-day course scheduled for 6 and 7 April.

Course work typically includes an introduction to Reporting Services, related features and hands-on report generation from relational database and OLAP models.

Caron Mooney, director of IS Partners, says Reporting Services is Microsoft`s "best kept secret", in that so many companies don`t know that they already own the infrastructure to implement BI functionality affordably.

"Many companies are still wasting thousands on people and programmers generating reports, which is a costly and process-intensive way to go about it.

"BI software today is no longer the exclusive domain of expensive proprietary vendors. Companies who are running Microsoft SQL server already have a crucial tool in the Microsoft BI arsenal and can thus significantly reduce the costs typically associated with BI," she says.

Reporting Services addresses the whole report management environment and will do report distribution in almost any format through the Microsoft SQL scheduling engine, including caching and storage of report histories.

"The course is aimed at developers and advanced users, and offers hands-on experience. Participants will, however, also benefit from the insight we`ve gained through use of the product in real-world implementations and application of best practices," Mooney adds.
