Interconnective Solutions (ISolution) is looking at adding least-cost routing and voice over Internet Protocol to its offerings.
"The group`s technical platform is well placed to offer such services as it is an independent switch connected to Telkom and each of the GSM networks," says CEO Mark Smith.
ISolution provides infotainment and business services from a single technical platform comprising 750 channels of digital voice and data capability.
The group released its interim results yesterday, showing an increase in retained profit to R534 000 for the six months to December, from R275 000 for the same period a year earlier.
This is also an improvement on the last year-end, when for the 12 months to June the group incurred a loss of R1.35 million.
Revenue rose to R16.06 million, a 15.8% improvement on the year-earlier figure of R13.52 million, while the profit from operations was up from R261 000 to R571 000.
Basic earnings amounted to 0.48c a share (2003: 0.25c) and headline earnings rose to 0.62c (0.39c).
On the balance sheet, current assets amounted to R9.48 million (R8.94 million) at the end of the period, of which cash and cash equivalents accounted for R2.13 million (R2.99 million). Current liabilities totalled R7.61 million (R6.63 million).
Smith says the repackaged infotainment portfolio has shown a positive response particularly with the introduction of fulfilment, which has created a promising revenue stream.
"In addition, we will shortly be launching an innovative Web-based service for short message services and interactive voice response throughout the African continent. This product will enable us to host services anywhere in Africa from our offices in Johannesburg."
