Israel blocks iPad
Israel has banned imports of the Apple iPad, citing concerns that the device places too great a burden on wireless networks and disrupts other devices, states The Oakland Press.
The ban prevents iPads from being brought into Israel until officials certify the devices comply with local transmitter standards. The US Federal Communications Commission allows WiFi broadcasting at higher power levels than are allowed in Europe and Israel.
“If you operate equipment in a frequency band which is different from the others that operate on that frequency band, then there will be interference,” says Nati Schubert, senior deputy director for the communications ministry. “Without regulation, you would have chaos.”

"Video is a major growth area for Lagard`ere Active on the Internet,” says Didier Quillot, Lagard`ere Active CEO. ” It offers us a unique opportunity to benefit from the extent of our archive, while at the same time protecting works and combating piracy through the Content ID tool developed by YouTube."
Enablence to acquire Teledata
Enablence Technologies says it has signed an agreement to purchase Teledata Networks for $50 million in cash, shares and notes, reports The Canadian Press.
"With this merger, Enablence will become a strategic player in the global broadband market, with the critical mass to meet the needs of service providers in established and emerging markets and the ability to service Tier 1 operators internationally," says Arvind Chhatbar, Enablence chairman.
The acquisition also requires approval from the TSX Venture Exchange, Teledata shareholders, and other conditions. The closing date of the agreement depends on certain statutory waiting periods in Israel.
