Entrepreneur Patrice Motsepe`s Sundowns soccer club has added technology to its training in a bid to bring back the league to Mamelodi.
"Information technology is crucial if Sundowns is to be a world-class team," said Motsepe, president of Sundowns, at a press briefing in Midrand.
"The success of the team in the field of play needs to be translated and extended to our analytical administrative and communication systems," said Thele Moema, CEO of Sundowns.
Neil Tovey, former Bafana captain and joint coach of Sundowns, added: "We are embarking on a programme where we electronically analyse offensive and defensive play. The [software] program is designed by the CSIR and Sahara provides us with the hardware.
"Sahara is supplying all the IT equipment and infrastructure, as well as performing the support and maintenance for the team. We have ensured the team is running on a wireless local area network.
"After all, Sundowns Football Club is not an office; the players, as well as the technical and coaching staff, need to be mobile," says Gary Naidoo deputy MD of Sahara.
