IT subsidiary of leading Indian automobile manufacturer selects CA`s Unicenter TNG to manage extensive SAP R/3 infrastructure

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) has announced that Mahindra Consulting, the information services subsidiary of a leading automobile manufacturer in India, has selected CA`s Unicenter TNG to manage the installation of one of the largest Windows NT- based SAP R/3 infrastructures in Asia.

Mahindra Consulting supports the global operations of the Mahindra Group, a $1.2 billion manufacturer of tractors, commercial vehicles, general-purpose utility vehicles and auto components. Over the past year, the Bombay, India-based company deployed an extensive SAP R/3 enterprise resource planning application. The network consists of approximately 2,300 PCs connected to approximately 100 servers in five production sites.

"Unicenter TNG is expected to help us manage the IT/SAP investment made by our customer by giving us end-to-end management of the implementation from a central point of control," said Dr. D.G. To keep service levels high and costs manageable, Mahindra needed a management solution as integrated as its SAP solution. "That meant a solution totally integrated with the SAP applications and capable of managing all network resources on an end-to-end basis from a centralized point," Mahajan said.

Before selecting Unicenter TNG, Mahindra Consulting evaluated other products, comparing the feature sets of each solution to the company`s present and emerging requirements. Mahindra Consulting concluded that Unicenter TNG was the best fit for the company.

"Ease of implementation, complete integration with our existing system, the ability to monitor from one console, and the fact that CA`s solution is of a global standard in enterprise management tilted the balance in favour of Unicenter TNG," explained Mahajan.

In addition to SAP R/3, Mahindra Consulting is deploying Unicenter TNG options and agents for software delivery, advanced help desk, and to manage specific environments such as Microsoft Exchange, Oracle and Windows NT.

CA Global Professional Services is assisting Mahindra Consulting with the implementation of Unicenter TNG on a number of levels, including knowledge transfer. Mahindra Consulting has a team of more than 200 software professionals specializing in IT facilities management, SAP implementation services and Internet/e-commerce solutions.
