Acer Africa has unveiled its latest high-end desktop workstation, designed to take commercial users confidently into the future.
The new AcerPower 4100 incorporates the just-released BX-chipset and PC-100 memory modules (expandable to 384MB), ensuring the workstation takes full advantage of Intel`s latest high-speed 350MHz, 400MHz and soon-to-be-released 450MHz CPUs.
It is also Y2K-compliant as certified by NSTL (National Software Testing Laboratories).
In addition, the AcerPower 4100`s space-conscious motherboard design provides flexibility for a wide range of future upgrades. The desktop form factor provides room for four expansion slots which means additional circuit boards such as graphics adapters and network interface cards can all be inserted directly into the PCI bus.
The system comes standard with 4MB of the latest technology AGP video memory while the five open drive bays are ready to accept any combination of hard disk drives, tape drives, CD-ROM drives and DVD-drives.
Leigh Hancock, PC product manager at Acer Africa, reckons that in addition to its leading-edge `fresh` hardware technology, users will be impressed by the many other outstanding features of the AcerPower 4100 - like its extremely competitive pricing in the high-end brand market and a host of pre-installed management features designed to ensure the workstation stays up and running.
"Clear and fast office communications are vital to overall enterprise performance. The AcerPower 4100 has all the hardware and software support to succeed in a demanding corporate environment," Hancock says.
The workstation includes Acer`s Advanced Desktop Manager (ADM) which allows a remote or local office to be managed centrally. ADM can assess and allocate system and power resources, detect and report potential hardware errors, and provide effective asset management which allows fast inventory audits. Security is enhanced by automatic reporting of configuration changes directly to the network administrator.
The Wake-on-LAN feature in a network environment enables the MIS manager to remotely perform software upgrades and maintenance after normal working hours, eliminating unnecessary downtime and maximising productivity.
The AcerPower 4100 also includes PC-Doctor diagnostic software to perform quick, automatic hardware tests to locate failures on even the smallest system components and assure system integrity.
And the workstation is bundled with the latest version of PC Cillin anti-virus software to protect it - and the network - from virus attacks.
"With top-notch hardware and powerful management tools combined, the AcerPower offers the ideal solution for today`s - and tomorrow`s - business environments," Hancock concludes.
