Integrated Tertiary Software (ITS), a local integrated software provider to the education sector, is Oracle SA`s top independent software vendor for 2004.
The award, presented at Oracle`s recent partner network event, recognises ITS for its significant contribution to this sector.
"It is the second time we have won this prestigious award in the last three years," comments ITS CEO, Derick Jordaan. "I believe it shows ITS`s ongoing commitment to our partnership with Oracle and our success in promoting Oracle technology and the ITS software in the higher and further education sectors."
ITS, which has been operating since 1986, and whose solutions are currently installed in over 40 tertiary institutions worldwide, uses Oracle products for development and deployment platforms and the company is a certified Oracle partner.
The current version of the ITS system is fully Web-enabled and staff can access the system on campus through a standard Web browser. Students and staff can also access the system remotely via the Internet using standard Web browsers and specially designed self-service applications.
ITS is developing an enhanced system which will form part of the company`s strategic shift toward a more business-driven process. Current development is done on Oracle`s latest technology platform, Oracle Database 10g, and will mean that customers using the ITS solution will be ready for "grid" computing, where a number of computers could be combined to provide more effective use of available processing power.
Zadrik Welthagen, Manager Database Administration at ITS, was also recognised by Oracle, winning the consistency award for long service.
"ITS looks forward to building on our relationship with Oracle and our customers can expect some exciting new product developments in the future," concludes Jordaan.
