ITWeb, Aptech partner to boost IT skills

ITWeb and NextGen Training Solutions, t/a Aptech Computer Education Johannesburg, have together launched their skills services after signing an agreement on 3 April 2006.

This partnership brings together the expertise of ITWeb, a leading online IT news portal, and Aptech, a global leader in IT training that has trained more than 3.5 million IT professionals in 52 countries on the latest technologies.

This partnership between ITWeb and Aptech Johannesburg will not only complement government initiatives but will also give a needed boost to the private sector, allowing it to play a significant role in the country`s ICT development.

The services will assist youths looking for a job to assess their present IT skills and provide free overall assessment recommendations on upgrades or new technologies they can focus on to increase their employability.

The technology focus at ITWeb`s CareerWeb and Aptech Johannesburg ranges from technology vendors like Microsoft, Sun, IBM and open source technologies, to new skills like data security and quality assurance, which are today much needed in South Africa if it is to compete globally.

The breakthrough partnership between Aptech and ITWeb allows candidates to receive discounts on more than 1 000 IT training titles offered at Aptech Johannesburg. This will benefit both unemployed youth and working professionals who will have an option of either going through instructor-led training programmes or self-paced learning programmes based on Aptech`s proprietary multimodal delivery methodology which is running in 52 countries.

Aptech Johannesburg and ITWeb have also launched a Skills Guarantee Programme, which guarantees the employer the candidate has been trained through Aptech Johannesburg on particular technologies. The services launched by Aptech Johannesburg and ITWeb will bring employers/recruiters and IT professionals together, including unemployed youth, bridge the skills gap and gear South African industry to respond to the technology changes that are inevitable to enable the country to compete in a global marketplace.
