ITWeb joins EXSA membership

Johannesburg, 31 Oct 2007

Technology-focused publisher ITWeb today announced its acceptance of the provisional membership offered to it by EXSA, the Exhibition & Event Association of Southern Africa, in the organiser category.

ITWeb is South Africa`s leading technology-focused publisher, and this latest news follows hot on the heels of the recent launch of its debut exhibition, the DigitalLife Expo, which takes place from 18 to 20 April 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre, in Johannesburg.

DigitalLife is the first expo of its kind to offer exhibitors the opportunity to present, demonstrate and sell a complete spectrum of digital consumer products, in an environment that comprehensively demonstrates the integration of technology into the modern lifestyle. The show will feature the best of what the consumer electronics, gaming and entertainment industries have on offer.

The DigitalLife Expo complements ITWeb`s activities in the digital lifestyle space, including its monthly magazine, Digital Life (formerly Unwired), and its social media Web site, My Digital Life. With its diverse media titles and products that span online, print and events, ITWeb is a trusted voice in South African technology publishing and is uniquely placed to successfully produce an expo of this nature.

Angela Wressell, CRM & Events director of ITWeb, comments: "We were most gratified with the news of our unanimous approval by EXSA and happily accept membership to this esteemed association. We look forward to our involvement with EXSA and to realising, with its support, the full potential of the DigitalLife Expo.

"The application of technology to everyday life is a fact of our present reality that has seen even the most reluctant technophobes hauled clear across the divide and into the digital lifestyle. As a result, there was a gaping hole in the market for an expo like DigitalLife; one that would put the digital lifestyle in context and satisfy consumers` desires to explore, investigate, compare and experience products in one single occasion."

To reflect the consumer`s digital reality in the most logical and consumable manner possible, the expo has been designed around a pavilion structure. The result is five different pavilions, including: TV & Entertainment; Mobile & Personal Technology; Technology at Work; Appliances & Home Automation; and Digital Services.

The main attraction at DigitalLife will be the 285sqm Digital Home, sponsored by Telkom. This will take centre stage at the expo and is the first home of its kind to be created for a South African show. The fully equipped, walk-through Digital Home will feature wireless broadband connectivity, spanning the kitchen, living room, library/study, and children`s and main bedrooms.

Says Wressell: "The Digital Home is the physical realisation of the potential of broadband connectivity, coupled with a variety of leading next-generation digital products and integrated in the home environment. This major attraction will showcase interiors by the celebrated interior decorator and designer, Lynne Blumberg; and the R250 000 worth of products demonstrated in it will be won by one lucky visitor to the expo."

Wressell concludes: "We are committed to our role in developing and upholding the professionalism of the exhibitions and events industry and look forward to unveiling our debut expo next year, and to a long-term association with the EXSA and the industry."
