IUM invests in ITS Integrator and CELCAT Timetabling

Johannesburg, 04 Jun 2013

The International University of Management Namibia (IUM) has purchased ITS Integrator for streamlining processes related to student management and student financial management, as well as invested in CELCAT Timetabler products for examination and class timetable generation. The products and software were provided by ITS Tertiary Software (ITS), a leading independent technology solutions and services company and member of the Adapt IT Group of companies.

IUM currently caters for more than 7 500 students, with its main campus in the capital Windhoek and branches in Swakopmund, Ongwediva and Walvis Bay. IUM is Namibia's first and, currently, only private university.

"In 2012, the university celebrated its 10th anniversary; a milestone marking a decade of consistently rapid growth. This has necessitated an improvement in our management and administration processes, which could only be driven and supported by tools such as ITS Integrator and CELCAT Timetabler. These products are proven to be successful and an excellent fit for our institution's unique business challenges," says Kumbi Short, a consultant at IUM. "Further to this, the increase in the student population and the expansion of academic programmes makes it no longer viable to use systems that are designed for smaller colleges."

ITS Integrator provides a rich set of functionality to enable back-office and front-office operations, as well as self-service and mobile functions for students and staff. The student management system of ITS Integrator handles the core function of record keeping of all student and academic information and includes modules for: Prospective Student Enquiries, Applications and Admissions, Registration, Study Records and Assessments, Graduation Management and Short Course Management. It also seamlessly integrates with CELCAT for lecturing and examination timetabling.

"IUM's investment in ITS Integrator and CELCAT Timetabler products extends ITS Tertiary Software's footprint in Namibia. The company already has partnerships with the University of Namibia, Polytechnic of Namibia and Namibian College of Open Learning," says Hanlie Spangenberg, Business Development Consultant at ITS.

IUM has initially invested in the student management and student financial management modules of ITS Integrator, together with CELCAT Timetabler, and as the institution grows, other modules can be purchased.

"We are excited about our investment and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with ITS. Simpler processes for the management of student records, delivery of information to the Ministry of Education, and instant reporting for senior management within the university are only a few of the benefits that will be realised almost immediately, making the lives of both students and staff much easier," concludes Short.
