J-Enterprise doubles turnover in two years

Johannesburg, 04 Nov 2003

J-Enterprise has almost doubled its turnover year on year. This follows a strategic alliance formed two years ago between J Enterprise, a division of JSE Exchange-listed EOH and JD Edwards, (now a PeopleSoft company), to provide clients with supply chain management solutions.

Ken Cullinan, executive director of J Enterprise, says: "Within two years J-Enterprise has doubled its turnover year on year and has grown from 16 to 32 people over this period."

Cullinan attributes this growth to the PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne product suite being "a rising star" in its space and anticipates the relationship deepening with the acquisition of JD Edwards by PeopleSoft. He adds: "EOH was begun by a group of business people who moved into the IT sector, which is why it has shown year on year successive growth, as opposed to IT people who have tried to run a business and failed.

"Because we understand commerce, we can find an IT solution to a business problem a company is facing. We can assist clients that are in the `spec and select` process to find the right system solution for their business problems. Sometimes it is just good solid home-grown advice they need."

Cullinan says J-Enterprise aims to form lifelong IT partnerships with its clients by providing strategic planning and guidance, business systems and IT outsourcing services.

"Together these disciplines provide a complete offering of products and services, enabling the client to optimise and drive real value out of information technology, resulting in improved business performance. Our focus is clear on delivering business benefit."

Andrew Krause, sales director of PeopleSoft South Africa, says: "J-Enterprise is a recognised implementation services partner, with strong hosting capabilities. This allows J-Enterprise to implement the EnterpriseOne product, either as an integral partner in a PeopleSoft-led project or independently for its own clients, with the right backing, support, skills and knowledge.

"PeopleSoft focuses attention on companies in its authorised partner programme, as these companies are professional, qualified and enable real business improvement through the use of our products."

Cullinan says: "J-Enterprise is working on a number of projects with PeopleSoft. Among these is one of the largest supply chain implementations of PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne worldwide. J-Enterprise entered a joint venture in Mauritius to manage the outsourcing of the IT department at the Rogers Group, the largest commercial organisation in that country."

The Rogers Group employs 6 500 people in farming, hotels, manufacturing plants, insurance, finance houses, aviation, tourism, engineering, waste management, food and consumer goods, chemicals and pharmaceutical products, and shipping and logistics, among others.
