Japan hosts Green IT Expo

The Japanese government has been touting efforts to make the country one of the most energy-efficient, lowest carbon emitting nations in the world, says Electronics News.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry is focusing on developing cooling technologies, power-saving equipment, and cooling-free semiconductors and devices.

The Japan Green IT Expo, due next year May, will be Asia's largest expo, gathering green IT solutions such as power-saving servers and network equipment, and efficient centre operation solutions.

Promise joins Green Grid

Promise Technology, a provider of enterprise-class Raid storage technologies, announced its membership in The Green Grid, a global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centres and business computing ecosystems, says Trading Markets.

Promoting the adoption of energy efficient standards, processes, measurements and technologies, The Green Grid is comprised of an interactive body of members who share and improve best practices around data centre efficiency.

By joining The Green Grid, Promise Technology says it is aiming to improve computing energy efficiencies and to influence developers and end-users of data centre technology.

Kingston goes green

As part of its green initiatives, Kingston Technologies, a provider of memory products, has announced the launch of its low-profile modules, reports Channel Times.

Kingston claims that with fewer materials, these modules are safe for the environment and will emit less energy.

Nitin Malhotra, Kingston country manager (India), says: "The new low profile modules are more efficient than their predecessors."
