J.D. Edwards & Company, a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, recently announced that it has become the first enterprise-wide concept certified solution partner of UCCnet, a global foundation and trading community for industry standards-based electronic commerce.
UCCnet is a not-for-profit subsidiary of the Uniform Code Council (UCC) that serves multiple industries through its universal platform for electronic commerce, including the consumer-packaged goods and retail markets. It synchronizes product information between business-to-business partners via Internet-based trading communities. UCCnet participants use the technology neutral, XML-based trading community to communicate industry standards-compliant, synchronized item content and receive immediate notification of product life cycle events, such as new item introductions, item maintenance, authorizations and de-authorizations. By introducing standards into e-commerce trading information and globalizing a company`s trading scope, UCCnet enables trading partners, Internet trading exchanges and solution vendors to expand business opportunities and bring efficiency to the supply chain.
OneWorld Extended Process Integration (XPI), J.D. Edwards` interoperability technology within OneWorld Xe which makes inter-enterprise collaboration among vendors, suppliers and partners possible, will extend the benefits of UCCnet by facilitating standards-compliant information exchange and transactions across a multitude of disparate trading platforms.
"J.D. Edwards is proud to be the first enterprise-wide solution partner of UCCnet," said Dave Hill, vice president of industry sales and marketing at J.D. Edwards. "The collaborative capabilities of OneWorld Xe, including our OneWorld XPI, will pave the way for enhanced collaborative e-business capabilities within the UCCnet trading community. The result for our customers will be standards-based collaborative commerce throughout the supply chain."
"UCCnet`s open architecture allows companies to sidestep the huge costs associated with conforming to one technology solution and provides the ability to interface multiple applications in order to conduct e-commerce," said Fred Geiger, UCCnet`s vice president of product management. "We are very excited to have J.D. Edwards providing solutions such as OneWorld to the UCCnet community."
In addition to synchronizing data, UCCnet leads industry efforts to define improvements to business practices, including the establishment of application requirements for solution providers developing UCCnet-compliant business applications and services. Through its electronic commerce platform, it can link trade exchanges, allowing companies exposure to information across a wide range of resources. UCCnet also provides access to electronic trading communities for those not included in exchanges.
UCCnet is available to all companies, industries and geographies supported by the UCC. It serves to foster open competition and development of compatible solutions and services.
