JDE delivers Advanced Planning software bundle for mid-market businesses

Johannesburg, 15 Jun 2001

JD Edwards & Company, a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the Internet economy, recently announced the availability of its Advanced Planning solutions specifically tailored for mid-market enterprises. Now, smaller companies can take advantage of the same powerful collaborative applications used by JD Edwards` larger enterprise customers.

As part of this new product offering, JD Edwards` OneWorld Advanced Planning modules that provide collaborative forecasting and demand management, supply chain planning, order promising and production scheduling have been specially priced-including users-for under $150 000. In addition, training and implementation services for this offering have been designed specifically for the needs of medium-sized businesses.

Already a leading provider of affordable, flexible applications to mid-enterprise companies, JD Edwards is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this largely untapped market segment.

"The JD Edwards Advanced Planning mid-market offering dispels the notion that only large enterprises can afford world-class planning and scheduling capabilities. In fact, mid-sized businesses have a significant need for Advanced Planning, since they must adapt and respond to the changing dictates of large enterprise customers," said Ed Sitarski, JD Edwards` VP of Advanced Planning. "The Advanced Planning package announced today presents a significant opportunity for mid-sized businesses - including the majority of our OneWorld and WorldSoftwareT installed base - to take advantage of affordable supply chain planning software.

The JD Edwards mid-market Advanced Planning bundle is available in individual modules, enabling smaller customers to ease into advanced collaborative planning applications one module at a time, beginning with those applications that deliver the greatest value to their businesses. If desired, the entire subset of Advanced Planning modules included in this offer can also be implemented as a single project.

JDE joins with IBM to offer product/implementation package

Leveraging the strategic alliance between the two companies, JD Edwards and IBM have joined forces to deliver the new Advanced Planning bundle along with specific hardware and implementation services from IBM Global Services.

The JD Edwards/IBM package is built around Production Scheduling and targets installed JD Edwards WorldSoftwareT customers. The companies will jointly participate in sales and implementation of the solution package.

"IBM has a long heritage of going to market with JD Edwards to deliver the latest technology to mid-sized enterprises. This joint Advanced Planning offering is an all-in-one package which includes software, implementation services, and iSeries hardware," said Doug Willis, global offering executive for the JD Edwards Consulting Practice, IBM Global Services. "For businesses that ho wish to take advantage of advanced planning and scheduling capabilities but have shied away due to cost, this is an ideal solution."
