JMP Genomics 4.0 from SAS brings new power to genomic data analysis, with flexible options for analysing and exploring data from a variety of high-throughput studies.
New statistical tools for quality control, normalisation and pattern discovery provide cost-effective, flexible analysis of multiple data types from varying platforms, including summarised data from next-generation technologies.
Released today, the comprehensive desktop package marries powerful analytic and visualisation capabilities of SAS 9.2 and JMP 8. It provides new ways to visualise statistical results in genomic context and performance improvements to support analysis of larger data sets than before.
Three seminars this week, in California, will highlight capabilities for next-generation biomarker discovery. Participants include Ingenuity Systems and the National Centre for Genome Resources (NCGR), both JMP Genomics partners. Faye Schilkey of NCGR will discuss schizophrenia research, which recently won the 2009 Bio-IT World Best Practices Award for Basic Research, for which SAS nominated NCGR.
In JMP Genomics 4.0:
* Intermediate Workflows for exon and expression analysis build on existing Basic Workflows.
* Streamlined installation and a point-and-click menu make starting easy for new users.
* The variety of predictive modelling methods and sophisticated options for predictor filtering and cross-validation are unique among genomic solutions.
* Analysis options handle genotype data sets as large as 1.5 million SNPs for 15 000 individuals on a PC workstation.
* Sophisticated downstream statistical analysis capabilities support users of state-of-the-art sequence analysis pipelines from Illumina, GenoLogics and NCGR.
Tom Juenger, Associate Professor in the Section of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin, studies how climate and habitat variation influence the evolution of plant physiology. "We do quantitative trait locus mapping, association mapping and microarray analysis. We can now do it all in JMP Genomics. We don't have to buy different software for different applications," said Juenger, who contributed to several version 4.0 features.
JMP Genomics customers span commercial, government, academic and non-profit sectors. Academic options include campus-wide and department licences. SAS customers include 100% of the Fortune 500 life sciences companies.
