Tactical Software Systems (TSS) has bought Johnnic Communications` (Johncom`s) electronic trading hub, TradeWorld, for an undisclosed sum.
Johncom CEO Connie Molusi says the sale of the hub is in line with Johncom`s strategy to focus on its core business.
"Therefore we found it appropriate to exit this investment to people who can optimise its operations going forward," he says.
Johncom has undergone a significant restructuring in the past year, with its digital businesses being incorporated into the media business unit.
TSS CEO Danny Mackay says the deal will allow TSS to play a more proactive role in initiatives that will drive black economic empowerment and small and medium enterprise procurement in SA.
"TradeWorld enables organisations to optimise their procurement processes while ensuring these improvements include providing business opportunities to emerging enterprises."
TSS, which is 100% black owned, is a multi-discipline information and communications technology company that was founded in 1997.
TradeWorld started as far back as 1906 as a trade facilitation service. Since 1995 it focused on creating an online business-to-business trade environment to facilitate trade between large buying organisations and the black empowered and small business sector.
