Joint SIP trunking solution
Acme Packet, a supplier of session border control solutions, and BroadSoft, a worldwide provider of VOIP applications, has enhanced their joint SIP trunking solution that enables service providers to ensure business continuity for large enterprise customers, according to Trading Markets.
The solution, which integrates BroadSoft's BroadWorks VOIP application platform with Acme Packet's Net-Net session border controller, delivers advanced IP-based communications services that were previously not available with premise-based PBX solutions.
The services include Microsoft's Hosted Messaging and Collaboration version 4.5, video-enabled SIP trunking and fixed-mobile convergence.
Tape backups often untrustworthy
One in ten businesses have lost important data or files from their network as a result of their tape backup system failing, according to new research published by Connect, a business continuity specialist, reports News Blaze.
The research also found that three-quarters of SMEs still use traditional backup tapes to store their data and that half (49%) of all companies expect to switch to an online backup service within the next three years.
The survey was conducted by an independent research company on behalf of Connect, consisting of in-depth interviews with IT managers and directors at 151 UK companies in a range of industry sectors.
Next-gen solution revealed
Nortel has introduced the Virtual Services Platform (VSP) 9000, the next-generation enterprise solution for mission-critical core networks and data centres, reports PRWire.
The new platform helps companies realise the benefits of emerging virtualisation technologies that require unparalleled reliability and flexibility, while providing over twice the performance compared to the primary competition.
The VSP 9000 enables simplified network virtualisation, positions companies to reduce capital and operating expenses, and provides a more energy efficient network solution that can deliver further savings from lower power usage.
