Privately owned local search engine Jonga has introduced a wireless version, Jonga Mobile, to offer its search facility to mobile devices.
Information systems manager and Jonga developer Alistair Carruthers says Jonga Mobile was created in response to requests from users who wanted to use the search engine on personal digital assistants (PDAs) and cellphones.
"Jonga Mobile is accessible from most Wireless Application Protocol-enabled cellphones, PDAs or any mobile device that can connect to the Internet via GPRS, 3G or any other mobile communications technology," says Carruthers.
Jonga has also introduced Jonga News, a news aggregation service which extracts news headlines and summaries from various Web pages.
"The service is not subscription-based; however, the number of Jonga Mobile users is growing daily. The Jonga Mobile via your mobile device is charged at standard service provider rates for data," says Carruthers.
