Jordan grand prix races to success with EMC enterprise storage solutions

EMC Corporation and Jordan Grand Prix today announced they have teamed up to put information at the center of Jordan`s strategy for competitive advantage. Under the agreement, EMC, the world`s leading provider of enterprise storage systems, software and services, is providing the Jordan team with equipment including an EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage system, EMC Data Manager, EMC PowerPath and Symmetrix Manager software.

In putting EMC Enterprise Storage at the core of its IT infrastructure, Jordan is the first Formula One race team to capitalise on the competitive benefits derived from centralised information resources. The Jordan team relies on EMC`s market-leading solutions to make it competitive in an environment where every thousandth of a second counts. The unconventional decision to put storage, not servers, at the heart of Jordan`s IT infrastructure, gives the team advantage over its rivals.

Currently ranked number three in the Formula One race season, the Jordan team has already benefited from the increased availability and manageability of information stored on EMC solutions. The partnership has helped to make it possible to share detailed information from disparate work groups - including design, manufacturing and wind tunnel - giving the Jordan team the ammunition it needs to effectively target its opponents. Moving forward, Jordan expects to capitalise on the benefits of EMC Enterprise Storage solutions to improve its entire business and development processes, as well as create an e-commerce strategy for Jordan`s product merchandising division.
