Juniper's router most energy efficient
Juniper Networks' T1600 core router has successfully completed testing using a new Energy Consumption Rating (ECR) Initiative methodology, reports Market Watch.
The methodology provides a framework for measuring the energy efficiency of network and telecom devices. After undergoing comprehensive ECR testing, the T1600 has been verified as the industry's most energy-efficient core router, with a performance-per-energy unit rating of 9.1 watts per gigabits per second.
The tests were performed at Ixia's iSimCity in Santa Clara, California using the IxGreen energy measurement solution.
Force10 introduces VirtualView
Force10 Networks, a network services provider, has released VirtualView traffic management and provisioning technology, states Business Wire.
A set of standards-based software tools enabled through FTOS, the company's modular operating system, VirtualView provides real-time network traffic analysis and management designed to facilitate troubleshooting and benchmark performance in virtualised environments.
Available across the Force10 switch/router product portfolio, VirtualView delivers network visibility through data sampling, and subsequent analysis by a range of third-party tools and automated monitoring mechanisms designed to establish both baseline and ongoing application performance statistics.
Netgear selects Intellon
Netgear, a worldwide provider of branded networking solutions, has selected Intellon's HomePlug AV-based ICs for its new XAV101 powerline Ethernet adapters, says Market Watch.
The adapters include a pushbutton that enables automatic 128-bit AES encryption, device pairing and network joining to eliminate the need for a PC and software to set up and secure a network.
In addition to the pushbutton feature, the XAV101 adapters feature multicoloured LED indicators, enabling users to easily determine performance status via visual displays.
