Software application vendor IFS South Africa has regrouped its operations to include a black economic empowerment company said to have extensive local business consulting experience.
IFS parent company is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (XSSE:IFS) and has over 3500 employees and sales operations in 43 countries.
The new SA group, which has pitched the restructuring as a "move that makes IFS a leading force in the South Africa enterprise software and ERP fields", now comprises three companies.
IFS South Africa will market and support the group`s application suite in sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean countries and IFS Defence will be the primary conduit for sales of IFS applications into the defence market.
"IFS South Africa and IFS Defence have extensive project experience which will now be available to the group as a whole," says Paul Whalley, MD at IFS SA "This expertise has now been augmented with the creation of IFS Consulting, which is a black-empowered company with extensive business consulting experience in the South African market."
IFS Consulting is a joint venture between IFS, which owns 76%, and Manchu iCapital, which holds the balance. "Manchu iCapital has an extensive track record in the consulting field and we count among our client base major organisations such as Eskom, MTN, Telkom and Transnet," says Joe Manchu, who heads up both Manchu iCapital and the new company.
He says Manchu iCapital will benefit from the deal by being able to extend its reach into other African countries through working with IFS SA. Another major benefit is the ability to enhance its skills base. "For instance, we are looking at an assignment at MTN Nigeria which will involve working with guys from Sweden and India. We`ll see these skills development opportunities come up on future projects as well," says Manchu.
While iManchu`s business and IT consultants will be working for IFS Consulting on an outsourced project basis, IFS Consulting has committed to developing its own resources through skills development and employment equity.
