Kemtek, South Africa`s leading bar coding company now offers the perfect Metrologic industrial scanning solution with the introduction of their latest Tech scanner series, as well as the Holographic scanners.
"Metrologic`s industrial products are specifically categorised to help you identify the system or products best suited for your applications," says Martin Axford, technical manager, bar coding, at Kemtek. They are also the local distributor of Metrologic industrial products.
He further states, "Whether you are in the parcel handling business, catalogue and direct response operations, addressing supply chain needs, automating your warehouse, improving distribution and route planning or tracking work-in-process, Metrologic makes scanners and systems to fit your needs. They manufacture the industry`s most comprehensive line of industrial omni-directional laser bar code scanners."
Highlights of the Tech Series:
This product group is the ideal choice for scanning just a few inches. From industrial environments to harsh exterior conditions, the Tech Series scanners provide a low cost solution for a variety of applications. The rugged short-range scanners were also designed to absorb the knocks of fast moving packages, while located on the side of a conveyor.
The Tech Series for short range attended or unattended scanners, features rastered and omni-directional models, short optical throw distances and low prices.
Tech 7 and Tech 8 both feature omni-directional and raster scanning from 76-254mm and 200-460mm, the raster scanner is ideal when labels are always in a fixed position whilst the Tech 10 feature omni-directional scanning from 250-560mm (10-22").
They are the only Metrologic industrial category using conventional scanning optics. Tech 7, Tech 8 and Tech 10 each projects a specific "short-range" depth of field.
Benefits of the Tech Series scanners are:
* They are rugged, accurate and reliable
* Excellent for small bar codes with bars 0.19mm and wider.
* They scan at close range beginning 75-250mm from scanner (ideal for smaller labels which require high density scanning)
* Conveyor speeds up to 0.5 metres/second.
IS8000 HoloTrak Series
The IS8000 Series models differ in scan pattern, bar code density and aspect ratio compatibility, scan range and scan speed. The hands-free scanning of the IS8000 Series increases productivity.
Benefits of the IS8000 HoloTrak Series are:
* It reduces labour costs
* Improves throughput/productivity
* Control costs
* Fast return on investment
* Virtually maintenance free
* The rugged outer casing is designed for commercial or industrial environments
* Guarantees a 100% quality
Holography
The Holographic scanners (HoloTrak) show its superior performance over conventional scanners when scan areas grow larger and bar code labels move faster, achieving significantly more "good reads". The HoloTrak uses exclusive Metrologic holographic technology. A simple, powerful rotating holographic disc is HoloTrak`s only moving part. The holodisc contains about 20 holographic lenses, which aim, focus and control the scanning beam. These lenses also collect and adjust the signals returning from the bar code.
Benefits of Holographic scanners are:
* Long-range depth of field
* Low operating cost
* Sees at angles
"What makes Metrologic industrial scanners so powerful?" asks Mark Broude, Director Bar Coding Division and Chief Operations Officer of Kemtek, "it`s holographic technology! HoloTrak performs like no other scanner, with optical functions that cannot be duplicated using conventional technology."
More reasons for Kemtek to be the industrial scanning solution provider - and to further Metrologic advantages are:
* Where competitors read the bar code in small pieces and rely on software to put the pieces together, Metrologic uses many scan angles to read the whole bar code on the first pass. That is, no software truncations or mistakes!
* Where competitors would need to make a service call should a scanner malfunction, with Metrologic you can do-it-yourself. A quick and easy process of "swapping out" a scan head can be done in less than 5 minutes and this while your conveyor system is still running. That is, maximum up-time and increased throughput.
* Conventional scanners frequently employ auto-focus, which is a notorious source of problems, where Metrologic scanners don`t have any field adjustable controls. Multiple focal planes are permanently "locked" into the holodisc. That is, higher up-time and fewer service calls.
* Conventional scanners produce a pyramid shaped scan volume which is usually too narrow at close range and too wide at the far range, where with Metrologic`s holodisc controls the length of the scan lines in each of its focal planes, resulting a rectangular scan volume. That is, more scan volume and more "good reads".
