Kenyan woman to get IT award

In an award ceremony set to be held later this year in the US, Kenyan Dorcas Muthoni will be receiving the Anita Borg Change Agent award from the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, says All Africa.

Muthoni is being recognised for her three years' labour to get more girls and young women interested in ICT through mentorship programmes, workshops, book donations to schools and events.

She is living the dream of the founder of the institute, the late Anita Borg, who once said that "women need to assume their rightful place at the table, creating the technology of the future".

NSC appoints first general manager

NSC Group, an Australian converged communication company, has appointed Trevor Boal as its first general manager, says ARN.

Boal has spent four years at NSC, initially as New South Wales sales manager before becoming national sales manager. Under the new structure, four sales managers will now be reporting to Boal from around the country.

Boal said NSC Group managing director Craig Neil was looking to appoint someone to help drive operational effectiveness across the business.

Stone Group strengthens management team

Stone Group, a UK IT provider, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Keith Collins as commercial director, reports Newswireless.

This newly created position will head up product management, research and development, marketing and strategic partnerships across the group.

"Keith has a key role in our ambitious growth plans, by adding his experience we have taken the next significant step following on from our management buy-out in April and the acquisition of Rock in May," states James Bird, CEO of the Stone Group.
