Kenya`s leading public network operator launches first WiMAX Forum Certified network in Nairobi.

WiMAX Network to deliver next generation in technology for IP based data and voice communication

Leading Kenyan public data network operator (PDNO), IGO Wireless Ltd and wireless network solutions provider RapidCloud Technology have rolled out a WiMAX network on Redline Communication`s RedMAX (WiMAX Forum Certified) products to provide wireless broadband services for the corporate and small business market in Nairobi.

"WiMAX is the next generation in technology for IP based data and voice communications", says Atul Chauhan, MD of IGO Wireless. to provide broadband Internet services to both the. "Redline`s RedMAX products enable us to connect to customers now. IGOWIMAX is the first certified WiMAX product in the market offering high-speed internet access paired with value added services like domain hosting, antivirus, instant messenger and VOIP offerings."

IGO Wireless plans on a rapid expansion of the network and services going forward.

Deployment of WiMAX technology since the WiMAX Forum certified products for interoperability in January 2006, has increased significantly across a Sub-Saharan Africa. The first company to roll out a certified WiMAX network in Africa, Teledata Mozambique, moved quickly to capture their first to market advantage in the Maputo metropolitan area providing WiMAX based services to consumers in May 2006.

CEO for RapidCloud Technology, Arnoud De Nooy says that the rapid uptake of WiMAX technology in Africa is attributed the incredible demand for quality broadband in the market and WiMAX`s comparative ease of deployment and relative low cost to install. "IGO Wireless recognised the business case for WiMAX in their market. And by providing an affordable alternative to digital subscriber lines (DSL) broadband access using WiMAX they will realise the benefits of first to market." adds De Nooy.
