According to the dictionary, the word "automation" means "the use of automatic equipment to save mental and manual labour". Keops Isis Industrial Information Systems (Keops Isis), recently gave new meaning to this phrase by combining its substantial expertise in Management Information Systems (MIS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) services to offer the industry a redefined `man machine interface` solution.
This strategic decision was inspired by requirements from leading equipment suppliers, existing and new clients for service excellence, a high standard of engineering skills and budget/time-driven project implementation. Keops Isis is well known for delivering these qualities within the MIS and MES domain and is proving, through the successful completion of a number of PLC/SCADA projects that the same exacting standards can be adhered to in these environments. The company is currently in negotiation with various end-users regarding preferred supplier standardisation and joint ventures for future projects.
SCADA technology has evolved over the years to successful multipurpose utility management and control tools, and capabilities are still increasing. The `state-of-the-art` has advanced so rapidly that many potential clients are not aware of the myriad of functions which SCADA has to offer. Some of the salient features of a modern SCADA system include: User-friendly (X-windows/graphics) interface; automatic control; offline processing; integrated environments; extensive historical data manipulation; extensive processing power; extremely high data throughput; extremely quick response; online complex electrical network analysis; real-time supply/demand-side economic calculations; automatic voltage and power factor correction; and distributed processing power.
Says MD of Keops Isis, Pieter Theron: "Keops Isis has the capability to accommodate projects ranging from small, ad hoc, time and material scenarios to EPCM contracts and full turnkey projects in the automation and control environments, either as standalones or in combination with MIS and MES. By virtue of our affiliations with both the multibillion-rand JSE-listed Altech Group of companies and Montreal-based systems integrator Keops Technologies, we are able to execute projects of any magnitude, irrespective of geographical area. End-users can safely make Keops Isis part of their capital ventures with the peace of mind that they chose a company unbiased to product but biased to customer requirements and the meeting thereof. We believe in long-term relationships - as illustrated by our track record in the industry - and in creating sustainable business practices beneficial to all parties concerned."
