KeyOn jumps into VOIP services market
Wireless broadband provider KeyOn Communications has jumped into the $50 billion voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) services market, with the acquisition of VOIP provider CommX, reports Fierce VOIP.
Details of the deal were not disclosed, but KeyOn says it expects CommX would add more than $3 million in annualised revenues.
The acquisition of the CommX assets brings the company new customers as well as cloud service infrastructure to support hosted PBX and other business VOIP services, according to Connected Planet Online.
KeyOn plans to use the cloud service infrastructure to also support VOIP services to its existing customer base, which measures about 20 000.
EON reveals Jonathan Snyder, KeyOn president and CEO, states the company plans to upsell VOIP services across its networks funded by a $10.2 million American Recovery and Reinvestment act award.
He adds: “We believe that the acquisition of these VOIP assets is a compelling vertical integration strategy that complements our wireless broadband operations, Rural UniFi acquisition programme and broadband stimulus initiatives.”
