KeyTools brings increased effectiveness to Malachi`s risk management business

Johannesburg, 18 Mar 2004

KeyTools today announced that Malachi Vehicle Enterprises had implemented a tailored version of KeyAssess. This enables it to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its mobile vehicle inspection operation by the provision of relevant software for the handheld device used by the inspectors and the software utilised in the transmission of the information back to the server.

Malachi Vehicle Enterprises is a risk management company whose core business is ensuring that the motor risks short-term insurers take on are good risks. They perform a full mobile vehicle inspection, which has the following objectives:

* To see that there is physically a motor risk;
* To see what condition the motor risk is in;
* To check all accessories; and
* To check security features.

"The key is to feed the risk status back to the insurer at the time of policy inception and then to link underwriting and claims to this information," commented Bernd Veening, CEO of Malachi Vehicle Enterprises. "The value of this information sits at the underwriting section of short-term insurance. However, at the claims stage there is a considerable amount of value migration. Short-term insurance fraud costs insurers, globally, millions each year, and thus anything we can do to minimise this fraud risk by increasing our effectiveness and efficiency is vital. Our utilisation of the KeyAssess-based solution provided by KeyTools does exactly that and thus we are delighted with this new scenario."

"We are excited about the benefits that Malachi are achieving through the use of our software," added Richard Chalk, Founder and CEO of KeyTools International. "The number of potential applications that can take advantage of this type of scenario are too numerous to mention. We believe we have a unique set of capabilities, which our rapidly-growing client base is now rapidly exploiting."

"We operate out of all the major metropolitan areas in SA and are the only company globally that offers this type of pre-risk assessment focused purely on motor vehicles," concluded Veening. "We have launched our operation in the UK and intend using this as leverage to transplant the concept globally."

Apart from specific mobile applications such as GlobalOrder, KeyAssess, KeyGold, KeyLife and mobiSCAN, KeyTools has also developed TransPhormer, a browser-independent remote data transfer protocol, which is loaded onto a dedicated server or within a partition of an existing server and is fully scalable. It allows information to be transferred with reduced connectivity time, reduced security risk, reduced data throughput and increased accuracy to a PDA, eg palmtop, laptop and certain smart phones. When activated, TransPhormer enables data transmission via GPRS/GSM, HSCSD, or Bluetooth technologies, between the PDA and a company`s server that is hooked into its database, eg ERP, CRM, support and financial, therefore making mobile application commerce a realistic and cost-effective proposition.
