Kingston upon Hull City Council expands Oracle e-business suite implementation

Oracle, the world`s largest enterprise software company, today announced that Kingston upon Hull City Council, an existing user of the customer relationship management (CRM) applications of the Oracle E-Business Suite, has invested further in the Oracle Financials, Oracle Human Resources (HR) and Oracle Procurement modules in order to integrate and streamline these operational areas.

The Oracle E-Business Suite software has been chosen to allow Hull to keep in line with central government targets for e-government, which includes 100% of government transactions being available electronically by 2005.

"Hull was one of the first authorities to bring radical changes to the local government system. The Oracle E-Business Suite replaces existing technology, which was fragmented and costly to maintain. Oracle`s applications are highly integrated, and come with a sophisticated underlying technology platform and consulting services that enable front office and back office requirements to be addressed together," said Tony Taylor, assistant chief executive, Kingston Upon Hull City Council.

"Oracle also supports Internet-based business practice that will facilitate change and improvement while enabling real time updates. The Oracle E-Business Suite will help us consolidate data into a single data model. With Oracle`s help we intend to meet our goal of becoming one of the Top Ten information age cities in the world."

The implementation of the suite will enable the council to address its service improvement agenda allowing it to meet government targets."

To date, more than 2 000 companies are live on the Oracle E-Business Suite, the industry`s first integrated suite of Internet business applications that automates critical business processes across both front- and back-office operations. The Oracle E-Business Suite can streamline every area of a business-marketing, sales, service, contracts, order management, product design, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, financials, projects, human resources, and professional services automation.

Since its initial introduction, Oracle has delivered several releases of Oracle E-Business Suite enhancements, resulting in a mature, function-rich set of applications. The Oracle E-Business Suite is offered as traditional software on CD-ROMs or as an outsourced service.
