Knotion offers latest in EA training

Johannesburg, 25 Jan 2011

Knotion, one of South Africa's leading exponents of enterprise architecture, has announced exciting new additions to its 2011 training portfolio.

Archimate training will now be an established offering from the company. This follows the success of exclusive Archimate courses presented at the end of 2010 by Knotion, in collaboration with Netherlands-based BiZZdesign, which was an active participant in the original Archimate research project, and one of the key drivers in making Archimate an open standard with the Open Group.

“We have always considered that the smart way forward for any organisation is to keep up to date with current international best practice,” comments Knotion Director Marius Snel.

Commenting on the Archimate course, Kim Francis, Business Architect at Nedbank, said: “It was extremely enjoyable, providing concepts and a methodology that will enhance our business architecture.”

Another new training package that will find an appreciative audience is Knotion's short course on EA strategy, which aims to develop the concept of aligning EA with business strategy to be a clear, pragmatic discipline.

Demand for Knotion's TOGAF 9 certification and TOGAF 8-9 bridging courses is expected to continue at a high level: 311 delegates have obtained TOGAF 9 certification after completing the Knotion training course, the largest number certified by any company worldwide during the same period.

“Viewing certification as a means, not an end, to an in-depth understanding of TOGAF is what sets Knotion apart,” says Anncois Carstens, Knotion's Training Executive. “Our 'EA Applied' and 'EA Advanced' courses will also be receiving particular emphasis.”

Corlette Grobler, recently appointed Director of Architecture at Huawei Technologies, felt Knotion presented an excellent EA Advanced course, which brought the practical side of EA to business and stakeholders with a very thorough approach from a value perspective.

Knotion's recent EA training clients include an impressive portfolio of South African blue-chip companies such as ABSA, Nedbank, Gijima, Netcare, Microsoft, MTN, Cell C and public sector clients such as the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), the Companies and Intellectual Properties Registration Office (CIPRO) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). African clients include ABSA Namibia and Digital Jewels Nigeria.
