Kodak unveils printing press
Kodak is providing the first public viewing of its Prosper 5000XL press at the Ipex 2010 print industry trade show in the UK, says RocNow.
The colour digital press revolves around Kodak's Stream inkjet technology. Kodak CEO Antonio Perez says the company expected to have a backlog of Prosper orders as it did not have enough manufacturing capacity to meet demand.
The presses are made at Kodak facilities in Ohio, with the first installation of a black-and-white Prosper 1000 press starting later this month at Offset Paperback Manufacturers outside Scranton.

NY govt to stop 'over-printing'
Green printing may be on the agenda for the government, following one congressman's plans to reduce paper waste resulting from over printing legislation, it is reported, according to Earthtone.
New York Congressman Chris Lee has introduced a bill he calls the Stop the Over Printing Act, which encourages fellow government officials to think before they print documents.
It is hoped the bill will put a stop to the practice of printing five copies of every new piece of legislation for sponsors. As some bills have as many as 90 sponsors, and with the bills themselves occasionally stretching to thousands of pages, the new bill could see paper waste significantly reduced, while money would also be saved.
