According to an industry sales survey by market data specialist infoSource, Bidvest company, Konica Minolta South Africa, has successfully held on to its title as the number one supplier of multifunctional printers (MFPs) in southern Africa, holding more than a 20% share of the market in 2012.
While its total market share grew from 18.9% in 2011 to 20.3% in 2012, the company's share of the colour market also grew year-on-year, from 22.2% to an incredible 25.3%. The share of the black & white market was also up from 17.7% in 2011 to 18.4% in 2012, which is significant, as this is typically considered a mature market within the industry.
Marianna Gdanis, business unit manager at Konica Minolta South Africa, explains that these increases are due to the company's sophisticated bizhub devices that provide the best value for money for medium-sized to large businesses in southern Africa.
"The breadth of the bizhub line and its ability to provide quality products suitable for a variety of customer needs, from low-volume to high-volume, has reinforced its strong legacy and brand reputation in the market. Plus, our continuous focus on customer satisfaction has paid off.
"Our company's relentless dedication to innovation makes the brand stand out from the rest of its competition. We are the first manufacturer to offer biometric authentication on its MFPs, and the bizhub Extended Solution Technology (bEST) enables integration of Konica Minolta devices with a range of software applications to help automate and streamline workflow and control costs," says Gdanis.
Earlier this year, Konica Minolta Business Technologies won Buyers Laboratory's (BLI) most coveted award - A3 MFP (multifunction printers) Line of the Year Award - for the third consecutive year. "In the 26-year history of the award, Konica Minolta is one of the only two brands to win the award three years in a row, and it sets the precedent as the only brand to do so in the past decade," adds Gdanis.
"The company is extremely pleased with these results, and highly regards the efforts and hard work from all employees. Today's printer market is a neck-and-neck race, so holding on to the title as the number one supplier of MFPs in southern Africa is a major accomplishment, and demonstrates that we are not becoming complacent, nor resting on our laurels.
"Konica Minolta South Africa is continuously investigating more areas in which it can add efficiency to businesses and enhance their working environments. Our clients can remain confident that they are dealing with the leaders in both colour and black & white technology," she concludes.
