Konica Minolta magicolor 7450: Large format printer ideal for enterprise and creative environments

Konica Minolta Printing Solutions Europe has introduced a large format, high-performance colour laser printer: the magicolor 7450. Combining robust processing capabilities, outstanding print quality and versatile media handling, the magicolor 7450 is indicated for the enterprise and creative workplace. Built for high-volume applications and output, it is the ideal tool for creating a broad range of business and marketing materials on demand.

The magicolor 7450 is a powerful, versatile office printer that fits seamlessly into any heterogeneous environment of corporate and design applications.

Capable of handling a broad selection of media types, the magicolor 7450 is the ideal printing solution for creating marketing and business materials in-house such as reports, leaflets, brochures, banners (up to 1 200 mm) and posters. An automatic duplexer and banner tray provide the flexibility of printing professional materials from A4 to A3+ in heavy stock up to 256 g/m2. The standard 350-sheet paper capacity can be increased to a maximum of 1 850 sheets with up to three optional 500-sheet cassettes.

Users of design and graphic applications will appreciate the exceptional print quality and sophisticated colour generating technology of the magicolor 7450. It offers a 600 x 600 4-bit dpi contone resolution providing printouts in photographic detail, which are accurately graduated in both colour and monochrome. Through a process called "pulse with modulation" prints will have a very high level of greyscales (colour and shades), thereby producing a higher level of detail and halftones. Object segmentation technology guarantees that text and images are printed in optimal quality and the advanced colour matching system includes PANTONE tables for complete colour control.

The Konica Minolta advanced calibration system - enhanced Automatic Image Density Control (eAIDC) - means that users have consistency in colour in every print throughout the life of the toner cartridge. Simitri, Konica Minolta's next generation polymerised toner, allows high-quality images to be printed more economically at great precision even on coarse media. This specifically formulated toner yields more vibrant, durable prints with crisp text and life like images making it ideal for pre-press proofing where colour accuracy is key.

With print speeds of 25 pages per minute in A4 and a duty cycle of 120 000 pages per month, the magicolor 7450 combines the features of a 733 MHz processor and 256 MB of memory. It delivers its first page out in 9.5 seconds in monochrome and 11.5 seconds in colour. The fast gigabit Ethernet connection, USB 2.0 and parallel interfaces supply fast printing to the entire network.

Konica Minolta's Emperon technology provides compatibility with major printing languages (PostScript3, PCL 5e/c and PCL-XL 2.1), operating systems (Windows, Mac and Linux), applications (SAP, Quark, Citrix Metaframe) as well as PDF and JPEG/TIFF Direct print emulation for quick document processing from design, publishing and business applications. A comprehensive array of printer management tools is included allowing users and system administrators to manage and configure both printers and MFPs remotely. Important information such as real time supply status and troubleshoot details can be monitored from virtually anywhere using a Web browser. Additional plug-ins are available for HP Openview, IBM Tivoli NetView, CA Unicenter and Microsoft Management Console.

The magicolor 7450 is equipped with a PictBridge function, which enables users to print photos directly from their PictBridge-compliant digital cameras. Photos can then be printed and rotated directly from the camera and adapted to the print format. Another option is to print an overview of all photos in thumbnail format from the camera's memory.

The magicolor 7450 is supplied "ready to use" with a pre-installed set of consumables. The toner cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow can be replaced individually with cartridges with a print capacity of 15 000 (black) or 12 000 pages (cyan, magenta and yellow). The printer has an on-site warranty of one year that can be expanded to a maximum of five years.
