Konica Minolta South Africa introduces new monochrome workflow machines

Johannesburg, 01 Oct 2008

With the new bizhub 421 and bizhub 501, Bidvest company, Konica Minolta South Africa has introduced a new workflow fleet for black and white output.

The multifunctional products (MFPs) are mid-volume monochrome communication centres that integrate seamlessly into existing colour bizhub environments. They make document production in both smaller offices and corporate environments effective thanks to their latest technology, high print speed and versatile applications.

"Black and white output remains an important requirement of our customers in conjunction with high-quality colour printing," says Paul Symonds, product manager at Konica Minolta South Africa. "There are still many instances in which customers look for black and white printouts - instances in which they need their prints fast and in high quality.

"Just think of contracts, letters, drafts of presentations or texts and so forth. The devices are perfectly suited to run Konica Minolta's latest solutions and applications. We want our customers to get state-of-the-art productivity, flexibility and efficiency with their devices and believe that these benefits are delivered by the new bizhubs 421 and 501."

Like the full-colour bizhubs of the new generation, the bizhub 421 and 501 feature the InfoLine design. Not only does this design give the monochrome devices a boost in outer appearance; it also makes their operation simple and intuitive owing in particular to the large LCD display with a full-colour touch screen. Customers already using full-colour bizhubs will immediately feel at home with the user interface design of their new bizhub 421 and 501.

Despite its attractive and user-friendly exterior, there is more to the new monochrome bizhub series than meets the eye: the advanced hardware features 1GB Ethernet, 1GB RAM as well as an optional 60GB hard disc. Both bizhubs are equipped with Konica Minolta's latest powerful Emperon controller which ensures they easily fit into virtually any IT environment. They feature an advanced set for network support such as IPv6 and IPsec, making the new bizhubs real team players.

The new bizhub 421 and bizhub 501 reliably prevent bottlenecks in busy office environments producing 42 and 50 monochrome pages in just one minute, respectively. As they can be equipped with a wide variety of finishing options - reaching from sorting and stapling via punching to creating entire centre-stapled and folded booklets - users can be sure they get the option most suitable for their requirements. And being true Konica Minolta MFPs, the bizhub 421 and bizhub 501 streamline distribution and sharing of information. They all feature a USB front interface for print and scan via USB stick with PDF, XPS and TIFF formats available.

The excellent print quality with razor-sharp texts and finest lines users get with the bizhub 42 and 501 is owed to Konica Minolta's proprietary Simitri polymerised toner. And apart from getting a highly durable print finish with a resolution of up to 2 400 x 600dpi, customers can be sure the use of Simitri polymerised toner is an environmentally sound decision: lower fusing temperatures are required than with conventional toner, significantly cutting down the devices' energy consumption.

"In any department of mid-sized to larger corporations where the new bizhubs come into operation - be it administration, accounting or procurement departments - document security is of utmost importance," says Symonds. "This means that for users a comprehensive security package is a must. The bizhub 421 and 501 not only comply with the latest international security standard reliably preventing unauthorised access to the company network or any confidential data. As an optional security feature there is also finger vein and IC card authentication available."
