Bidvest company, Konica Minolta South Africa, has achieved overall first position for unit placements of multifunctional printers (MFPs) over the first half of 2011. This is according to an industry sales survey completed by market data specialist group, infoSource.
The results, for the period from January to June 2011, show that Konica Minolta South Africa gained 19.8% of the market in the multifunctional printer category.
“Our performance positions Konica Minolta South Africa as a clear market leader,” states Marianna Gdanis, business unit manager at Konica Minolta South Africa. “Focusing on transforming the work environment and progressing from automation to true IT intelligence, we have demonstrated that both our exceptional product line and our top notch service levels are favoured by consumers.”
In addition to being placed first overall, the company won almost 26% market share for unit placements in the colour MFP category, another first, while it placed second in the black and white MFP category, with 17.7%.
Gdanis attributes Konica Minolta South Africa's success, in part, to the organisation's management philosophy of the “Creation of New Value”. Konica Minolta has invested enormously in producing devices that have a significantly reduced carbon footprint, she says. “We take our responsibility as a corporate citizen seriously,” she says. “Not only are our products category defining in terms of CO2 emissions, but they also outperform the competition.”
Konica Minolta South Africa also trumped the competition in the high-speed segment with its production cut-sheet machines. Overall, the organisation won 33.8% of market share to position first. Additionally, it placed first in both the black-and-white cut-sheet category (with 31%) and the colour cut-sheet category (45.5%) and sold 28.6% of units countrywide in the colour press cut-sheet category.
