Korean ministry initiates project
Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy will initiate a software convergence project in July, says KoreaITDaily.com.
The project aims to develop software convergence services and related core technologies to add more value to strategic industries, including automobile, shipbuilding and medicine, and to facilitate industrialisation of related technologies.
For the project, the Ministry and the Korea SW Industry Promotion Agency selected a total of 20 tasks: 10 tasks from automobile and medicine and the other 10 tasks from mobile and network. They also selected businesses, which will perform the tasks.
Investing in convergence
Some of the biggest technology companies are placing their bets on convergence between the TV and the Web, providing the best indication yet as to how the TV business will work when flat screens and laptops traffic in the same content, says TVWeek.
Last month, both Sony and Google introduced new services that will send content to the television set via the Internet.
Apple, Microsoft and Netflix are also investing early to develop technologies that will challenge traditional programming distribution businesses.
Orange goes FMC
Orange Business Services is launching a fixed/mobile convergence solution that integrates mobile and office phones, says TMCnet.com.
