Seagate Software, the pioneer of Enterprise Information Management, today announced that KPMG Peat Marwick LLP has selected Seagate Holos as part of a $181 million contract to develop the agency-wide Integrated Financial Management System for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
"Our clients demand products and services that increase productivity, support management and executive decision processes, and diminish rising costs for their financial management systems," said David Halwig, principal, Public Services Systems and Technology project director KPMG. "For IFMP, we conducted an extensive evaluation of major decision support applications on the market which met the stringent NASA requirements, and we are committed to the industrial-strength of Seagate Holos to develop an efficient, enterprise-wide, and fully integrated financial management system for this technologically-advanced agency."
The agreement with NASA is among KPMG Consulting Public Services group`s largest contracts to date. It is designed to standardize NASA`s financial systems including cost accounting, executive information systems, travel, time and attendance, procurement, and budgeting, and improve the Agency`s ability to manage and report financial transactions on a consistent basis. The solutions developed for NASA, based on KPMG`s Performance Series for government entities will serve as models for KPMG to enhance efficiency for all government agencies, as well as private industry.
Included in the contract, is a 2000 seat user license of Seagate Holos, a sophisticated development environment that enables IT managers to create flexible and scaleable applications for the rapid analysis of large amounts of data.
"Seagate Software`s commitment to providing solutions with partners like KPMG is especially valuable to customers like NASA that have large scale, complex requirements," said Elvin Monteleone, vice president of professional services alliances at Seagate Software. "Customers benefit by receiving a suite of products that address all levels of business intelligence requirements from reporting against disparate data sources through to multidimensional analysis and modeling of information."
Seagate Holos is scheduled to run on a series of Digital Equipment Corporations (DEC) Alpha Series systems, accessing an Oracle 8 database. The full functionality of the application will run natively on both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh operating systems. In addition, the Seagate Holos license offers standard Web enablement via Netscape or Internet Explorer Web browsers. The Seagate Holos application is expected be developed and deployed nationwide at ten sites, including NASA`s Washington D.C. headquarters.
