Kyocera Mita changes SA strategy

Johannesburg, 08 Nov 2002

Local document solutions company, Kyocera Mita South Africa (KMSA), has announced that it will take over the importing of the successful ECOSYS laser printer range from the current importer/distributor, Page Automation.

KMSA will be the sole distributor of Kyocera Mita`s range of laser printers, digital copiers and multifunctional devices, effective 1 January 2003.

Wayne Holborn, manager: sales and marketing, Kyocera Mita South Africa, says the 2001 merger of Kyocera Corporation and Mita Industrial Company as well as KMSA`s success in the market has led to this development.

"End-users and dealers will definitely benefit from this strategic move," he says. "KMSA will now be able to provide its business partners with unified marketing and sales strategies, and end-users will be able to source the entire range of products from one company."

Unifying the channels of distribution is only part of the changes that have taken place at Kyocera Mita subsidiaries around the world due to the merger of Kyocera and Mita. Kyocera Mita offers a full range of products from desktop printers to high quality wide format systems all offering the best in functionality and reliability at the lowest cost per page.

He says that the current printer importer/distributor, Page Automation, will become one of KMSA`s strategic business partners. "They`ll no longer import the printer range, but will focus on selling the full range."

George Moolman, MD of Page Automation, says the company will align itself to Kyocera Mita`s global strategy of localising purchasing and support and will begin purchasing the product range directly from KMSA effective January next year. "Page Automation is looking forward to becoming a strategic partner in this venture and both parties see all existing customers benefiting greatly from this development," he says.

The move means that KMSA is investing directly into the SA market by offering continuity in terms of sales and service. It will also establish a larger and more diverse dealer base that can sell the entire Kyocera Mita product range in addition to those that currently specialise in either printers or multifunctional products.
