LayerOne Launches Pocket PC Phone

Johannesburg, 18 Apr 2005

LayerOne, an Internet Solutions subsidiary and mobile solutions provider, has officially launched the new M500 Pocket PC phone to the South African market. The phone, which recently completed it approval process through ICASA, is one of the smallest and most economical Pocket PC`s available in the country.

Says Stuart Hardy, MD of LayerOne, "LayerOne is very excited about the launch of the M500 Pocket PC device. The device is not only aimed at the Pocket PC phone market but also at clients that require push based email and information to their mobile phone. The device will be available on its own or with the LayerOne email solution that allows clients to get their updated email and other information sent to their device"

The Pocket PC is one of the widest used devices and technologies in the South African market, and with the addition of phone and email capability, will allow users to keep up to date with email and other corporate information in real time.

"We chose the Pocket PC phone because of its compatibility with MS Office, which ensures easy access to email and documents such as word and excel over the air with the use of the LayerOne mobile software. We also felt that when companies experienced the benefit of the LayerOne technology they where likely to move toward data integration which is well suited to the device. The device will be able to be viewed by the end of the week by going to the www.layerone.co.za web site, and in the short term will only be available from LayerOne and Internet Solutions"

Companies that purchase the LayerOne device will also be able to get the LayerOne software for email and pim for free for the first six month of the contract, making the entire offering the most competitive in the market.
