ANSI approves performance standard
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the InfoComm International board of directors have released InfoComm's first performance standard, ANSI/INFOCOMM 1M-2009 audio coverage uniformity in enclosed listener areas, according to InfoComm International.
The delivery of consistent coverage in a listening area is important for supporting both speech reinforcement and programme audio.
A well-executed audio system design is one that allows all listeners to hear the system at approximately the same sound pressure level throughout the desired frequency spectrum range, no matter where positioned in the designated listening area.
Bringing 3D into living rooms
Movie director James Cameron is taking his 3D mission beyond the multiplexes, aiming to get a toehold in American homes with 3D TVs and Blu-Ray players, in a partnership with Panasonic, states Variety.
The manufacturer has been named exclusive audio-visual partner for the Avatar 3D film and will promote it along with several of its upcoming products, including its full HD 3D technology, in a global advertising campaign.
"Any attention to 3D is good," says Eisuke Tsuyuzaki, CTO of Panasonic. "A tie-in with a landmark movie sends a strong message not only to consumers but to the industry in general."
