Leading independent research firm names Avaya a strong performer in desktop videoconferencing report

* Avaya Scopia videoconferencing cited as "a great all-around choice for video quality and interoperability."
* Evaluation is based on vendor's current offering, strategy and market presence.

Avaya today announced that its Avaya Scopia videoconferencing solution has been named a "strong performer" in a September 2013 report on desktop videoconferencing from Forrester Research. "The Forrester Wave: Desktop Videoconferencing, Q3 2013" report evaluates the product offering, strategy and market presence of Avaya and nine other desktop videoconferencing vendors based on 60 performance criteria.

Avaya Scopia Desktop is cited as a great all-around choice for video quality and interoperability. It received its highest scores in videoconferencing features, user experience, on-premises deployment and third-party hosting options, and experience.

Scopia Desktop and Mobile extend the value of traditional videoconferencing to remote users so they can participate in voice and video conferences and content-sharing from anywhere, on virtually any device, over any broadband connection.

"Companies using Scopia room-based systems benefit from additional bandwidth savings on calls with Scopia Desktop, and administrators benefit from a shared management platform for both," the Forrester report states. "Scopia Desktop has a lot of layout controls and is very configurable. It also works well on tablets. Both the mobile and PC applications have access to a unique feature that lets participants individually revisit previously shared content."

Forrester's research shows adoption of videoconferencing is growing, especially among younger generations of workers, with new videoconferencing innovations happening on the PCs, smartphones, tablets and other devices that workers use in their everyday jobs.

Avaya offers a mobile version of the Scopia application as a free download for smartphones and tablet PCs. The mobile app delivers ready access to HD videoconferencing, data collaboration, conference call control and administration through a simple and intuitive user interface.
