The Information Systems, Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies (ISETT) Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) and HP have awarded 96 learners with ICT certificates.
The graduation ceremony took place at Mogalakwena HP i-community`s headquarters, the Mokopane Educational Multipurpose Centre.
The year-long training project is part of a learnership programme that is enabling learners to seek skilled employment in a variety of IT-related professions, or to start their own businesses, says CEO of ISETT SETA Oupa Mopaki.
"The graduation marks the successful implementation of a learnership project in an underserviced province and is a defining moment on the path towards a future career for all the graduates in the ICT space.
"Finding the right job can be tough and building a career even tougher. Learners today have an opportunity to get both knowledge and skills at the same time and come out of a learnership programme as skilled workers," he adds.
Learnership packages given to learners included R10 000, a desktop computer with open source software, entry-level deskjet printer, digital camera and a modem with an Internet service provider account.
The Limpopo province, The Shuttleworth Foundation and HP have already hired a number of learners from the programme.
